Why Orthodontics?

What problems can be treated with orthodontics?

Jaw discrepancies can lead to difficulties chewing, excessive wear on teeth and damage to the gum tissue. These include:

Overbites are where the upper teeth are further forward than the lower teeth.

Underbites are where the lower teeth are further forward than the upper teeth.

A crossbite is when some upper teeth sit on the inside of the lower teeth

An open bite is when the front teeth don't touch when the jaw is shut - this can be exacerbated by thumb-sucking or soother habits.

Spacing of teeth:

Overcrowding is a common orthodontic problem. It occurs when there is an insufficient space for the normal growth and development of adult teeth. It can be difficult to keep overcrowded teeth clean.

Gapped teeth, or teeth with spacing,  can also be a challenge to keep clean.

Aesthetics:

A beautiful straight smile may be marred by a single misaligned tooth. This tooth can be realigned with ease and accuracy by the orthodontist.
